![]() ![]() Emily's condition had deteriorated and the doctors were ringing to say that they were planning to put her back on the ventilator. Late on Friday night Peter and I had the feared "number with-held" phone-call. I'm still on loads of morphine and they keep sedating me too so apologies if I'm a little sleepy. Daddy has bought me a little fan and taped it to my mobile - everyone else is very jealous. The last few days the temperature in the unit has been unbearable - 31 degrees and rising. The scan has gone to the Royal Brompton for some expert opinion. ![]() ![]() They like to accompany me whenever I'm wheeled around as it means you get priority in the lifts - if anyone has ever visited C&W they'll know what a privilege that is - and Daddy gets to carry the Doctor's emergency rucksack while Mummy glares at all the people that try to peek inside my incubator. M&D had to run from Carluccio's to come with me. The good news is no-one could see any more leaks the bad news is that now they don't know what's making me ill.Īs soon as I was back safely in NICU they decided to take me straight back downstairs for a CT-Scan. I was stable enough to go down to Radiology on Wednesday for another contrast. My ventilation is slowly improving and I'm off the nitric oxide. I'm feeling slightly better - thank you to everyone who sent their best wishes. One day we may run a marathon(!) to raise money but in the meantime if you have £1, £5, £10 lying around and haven't already donated then please use Emily's site to help. It would be wonderful if we could raise £10 for each of the 204 nights Emily spent in the unit. The cost of care for babies like Emily runs into thousands of pounds a week and as with most things these days the hospital relies increasingly on private help. All the money raised will now go directly to the C&W Neonatal Unit. To show our appreciation of their efforts we'd like to continue the fundraising that Justin started here. Peter and I are enormously grateful to the staff at Chelsea and Westminster for all the love and care that they showed Emily. Without them we wouldn't have had the privilege of knowing and loving her for the past 7 months. She endured so much and we were beginning to think she was invincible but ultimately she was just born too small. She was a beautiful and clever little girl. In the end her Chronic Lung disease caused pulmonary hyper-tension which in turn led to heart failure.
